We would like to bring to your attention a study authored by Dr. Rose Marks et al. in Nature Communications. In this groundbreaking perspective paper, the authors provide the most robust and comprehensive definition of desiccation tolerance (beyond vascular plants) to date, as well as the methods for its measurement. They also identify the main roadblocks and key questions in desiccation tolerance research while discussing the potential of studies on desiccation tolerance from an academic, technological, and social perspective. In our context, we believe this study constitutes a landmark in the study of DT plants and highly recommend reading it.
