As a starting point, we conducted a literature search (including grey literature) in the Web of Science search engine using the key-words combination (“desiccation tolerant” OR resurrection) AND (angiosperm* OR pteridophyte* OR lycophyte* OR vascular OR plant* ) to compile a list of DT plants. Then, we included additional studies not obtained through the literature search. We only considered taxa reported at the “species” taxonomic rank and reported to be able to tolerate the desiccation of their vegetative tissues. The species list was then harmonized following the taxonomic backbone provided by the World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP; please see Govaerts et al. 2021 for more details). Since it is not our intention to engage in ongoing taxonomic debates, we simply followed the WCVP taxonomic backbone and attempted to include alternative species names found in the literature (e.g. synonyms).
