Desiccation-tolerant vascular plants: a group of species largely neglected in conservation

We are pleased to share the study authored by Seidou et al. in the peer-reviewed journal Plants (the title is mentioned above), in which the conservation of DT plants in West Africa is discussed. Besides providing the first list of species for the region, it is shown the lack of formal evaluations and consistent discussions about the conservation of these species. The authors also discuss the importance of conservation initiatives that encompass certain species, especially when considering the negative impacts of quarrying activities and climate change in locations where they are found.

We hope this study inspires further discussion and actions that support the conservation of worldwide DT plants!
